Electrolyte Imbalances in Malnourished Under-5 Children with or without Diarrhoea

Background A significant public health issue, malnutrition affects 50 to 150 million children under the age of five globally. An increase in morbidity and mortality has been linked malnutrition, a serious problem. Aim: To determine whether malnourished with or without diarrhea have electrolyte disturbances their serum. Methodology: 100 were randomly selected from Liaquat University Hospital Jamshoro/Hyderabad. It took place between January 2019 December 2020. They varying degrees, diarrhea. Their histories, examinations, measurements used divide them into two groups: 56 patients 44 In both groups, serum electrolytes compared data analyzed SPSS version 21. Results: According findings, group had more hyponatremia hypokalemia than B. respectively. 43 (79.6%) hyponatremia, but 36 B (78.2%). Hypokalemia affected 27 (50.0%) A, 10 (21.7%) those (p-value 0.02). Conclusion: Electrolyte changes common moderately severely children, particularly who presented Morbidity can be reduced if these are detected time. Keywords: Malnutrition, Diarrhoea, imbalances
